Solid Waste ManagementThe Screven County Landfill is located at 943 Rocky Ford Road. It consists of 143 acres that is divided into three sections. All sections are now closed and has been covered with topsoil and grass planted. There are another one hundred acres proposed for a new landfill.
Around 42 tons of garbage is picked up every day in Screven County! Last year, we sent 10,870 tons of garbage to the landfill. That averaged out to 5.426 pounds for every citizen in Screven County a day! Of the 10,870 tons picked up, only 2800 tons was regular garbage. The rest was yard waste.
