2010 Great American Cleanup

The Great American Cleanup is an annual, nationwide, community improvement campaign started by Keep America Beautiful in 1999. Each April, thousands of Georgians celebrate Keep Georgia Beautiful Month by cleaning, restoring, and beautifying their communities as part of the Cleanup. Relay for Life Yard-sale, KSB Electronics Recycling and Friends of Screven County Animals Adoption Event

This year's Great American Cleanup was Saturday, April 17th. Dumpsters were available at collection spots around the county from April 12th through the 21st.

 

 

 

Where do I drop off the trash?

Once you have collected the trash, you can drop it off at several locations. The items will be weighed. The weights of all items will be announced later. These weights determine the winners of the community competition.

There will be a friendly competition between communities to see which picks up the most.

The week of April 12th thru the 17th Town employees will pick up any items left on the shoulder of the street as we have done in the past. This is a once a year opportunity to get rid of that old stuff you been meaning to throw away. If you have an item you may need assistance removing, please contact Town Hall at 857-3115

Friendly competition between communities

There will be a friendly competition between the communities. Once you have collected the trash, you can drop it off in your community. The items will be weighed. The winning community will be awarded the "traveling" Keep Screven Beautiful Clean Community Award.

There will be refreshments served after the cleanup in Sylvania at the Amphitheatre at noon.

You must have a raffle ticket to receive refreshments.

KSB presents plaque to t-shirt designer

The KSB Board presented a plaque to Sharon Blank to thank her for designing this year's Great American Cleanup t-shirt. This design ties together the Keep America Beautiful theme: Green Starts Here.

The Keep Screven Beautiful Commission encourages and educates all citizens of Screven County to end litter, minimize solid waste and beautify our county. The Commission works toward improving litter and solid waste control ordinances and seeks effective enforcement of all pertinent ordinances.
