Festival of Trees

2008 - "Experience an natural old-timey Christmas with Keep Screven Beautiful"

Congratulations to the Festival of Trees Committee. They won two ribbons with their "Experience a natural old-timey Christmas with Keep Screven Beautiful": First place in the Community Service category and Most Original. Volunteers on this project were Joy Evans (Committee Chair), Brenda Counts, Kathryn Youles, Harriett Yancey, Kathy Overstreet, Bill Revesz and Lisa.

The live Murray Cyprus was donated by Lamar Zipperer and decorated with locally grown and/or locally made ornaments by the Festival of Trees Committee. Ornaments include flowers made of pinecones and cotton bolls, angels made of corncobs, wreaths made of acorns, garland made of strung cotton bolls, stars made of sweet gum balls, magnolia balls, a home-made tree skirt from burlap and yarn and a angel tree-topper made of corn husks.
