Eco-Friendly Story Time at the Library - 2008

Keep Screven Beautiful is sponsoring an Eco-Friendly Story Time at the library this summer. Click here to see what we did last year.

Dates are:

July 2nd

KSB Chairman Bill Revesz was the guest reader for our third Story-time. He read ‘Where Does the Garbage Go?’ by Paul Showers. A book about where our garbage goes after we throw it away and how we can help reduce that amount.

We then made "Litterbugs" out of recycled plastic bottles.

June 18th

County Commissioner (and KSB liaison) Stan Sheppard was the guest reader for our second Story-time. He read ‘Why Should I Recycle?’ by Jen Green. A book that tells things we should recycle and why. Commissioner Sheppard also discussed how recycling would help Screven County.

After the book, we made stained glass mobiles and cards out of recycled construction paper and laminate pieces.

June 11th

Our first Eco-Friendly Story Time at the library was a success! We had three children attend. Harriett read ‘Joseph Had a Little Overcoat’ by Simms Taback, a book about recycling and how you can make new things out of old things. After the book, Harriett, Phyllis, Kathryn and Lisa helped the children design eco-friendly greeting cards.

Fun Stuff!
