Public Information/Education Committee

The Public Information/Education Committee shall be charged with developing informational and educational campaigns designed to change behavior throughout the county to abate litter, minimize solid waste and encourage recycling, and promote community beautification.

 

Each committee is chaired by a Keep Screven Beautiful Board Member. Any person willing to serve on a committee should contact Lisa Guidos or the committee chairman. You will receive notices of committee meetings as each Chairperson deems it necessary for his/her committee to meet. We thank you for your community involvement and willingness to volunteer your time.

Projects and Events

KSB Sponsors a Soccer Team

KSB has sponsored a soccer team at the Screven County Recreation Department. Stay tuned for details.

 

Georgia Arbor Day 2008 at PLC

The Public Information Committee planted trees at the Performance Learning Center for Arbor Day. They planted a Bradford Pear and a dogwood. KSB Volunteers: KSB Vice-Chairman Alan Scott and Public Information Committee Chairman Phyllis Butts.

Georgia Arbor Day at Savannah River Challenge

KSB members Phyllis Butts, Alan Scott, Byron Haire and Lisa Guidos along with Caroline Pope of the Georgia Forestry Commission spent the afternoon at Savannah River Challenge. They planted three trees, a Bradford Pear and two Cherry Bark Oaks that were donated by our State Representative Jon Burns.

Screven County Garden Club Flower Show

The Screven County Garden Club held their "Memories" Flower Show on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. KSB presented a Special Exhibit in the “Where the Past Meets the Present” category called “Keeping Screven Beautiful”. KSB won 1st Place in the division and received the Educational Award.

 

Georgia on my Mind

KSB and Friends of the Library had a booth at Georgia on my Mind Day at the Welcome Center on Thursday, April 17th from 10 am until 2 pm. KSB Volunteers: Phyllis Butts, Byron Haire, Stan Sheppard, Alan Scott, Bill Revesz, Brenda Counts, Katherine Weeks and Lisa.

 

 

 

RIPPLE Water Education Festival

Keep Screven Beautiful will sponsor a "Water Cycle Bracelets" station at the “Making Ripples Through Water Education” festival on Thursday, May 1st. Click here for more details.

Mission Statement

The Keep Screven Beautiful Commission encourages and educates all citizens of Screven County to end litter, minimize solid waste and beautify our county. The Commission works toward improving litter and solid waste control ordinances and seeks effective enforcement of all pertinent ordinances.
